I am a Self-Pay Practice & Out-of-Network Provider.
Most POS and PPO plans cover Out-of-Network Providers. I can provide you a special invoice ("Superbill") after each session which contains treatment codes to submit to your insurance company which allows you to be reimbursed according to your specific plan. Depending on your health insurance plan, it is possible for services to be covered in full or in part (typically minus your deductible). Please contact your insurance company to double check how your plan reimburses for psychotherapy services.
*Fees may be paid by all major credit cards, checks, cash, and HSA/FSA cards
Paying out of pocket usually gives you more options and increases your chances of finding a therapist who meets your specific needs/criteria.
You don't have to wait for approval from an insurer before getting treatment.
Parents, spouses and significant others can join sessions as needed without concern for insurance denial.
Therapists can utilize the type of treatment they think is most suitable for you, without restriction.
Therapists can see you for as many sessions as needed. Not the number determined by insurance companies.
Confidentiality: Self-paying provides a higher level of privacy. If insurance is used, the insurance company has access to the client's diagnosis, treatment plans, and progress notes. Some people might prefer to keep this information entirely private.

I recommend weekly therapy sessions for at least the first 4-6 weeks as it's the best way for you to honor yourself, your healing process, and to set yourself up for the best possible outcome. Weekly sessions provide opportunity to build trust, gain momentum, supports emotional consistency, accountability and practicality.
Evidence-based research studies generally show an association between weekly psychotherapy sessions and positive outcomes for clients. This appears to be especially important in the first stage of therapy, when you’re building rapport with your therapist and beginning to get to the core of things.
If weekly sessions are not possible for you, then we can certainly discuss what works best.
